{ about you and me }
You, First
Let me dish a little about the smart, quirky, charming, creative, pragmatic people who I especially like to work with as a coach. It’s taken me a while to figure this out, because frankly this understanding crystallizes only with experience. But since I have figured it out, I’m putting this ideal client info into pixels for everyone’s benefit. Would hate for anyone to learn the hard way I’m not the coach who will tick all their important boxes.
They’re people who…
~ Have an undeniable fire in the belly about what really matters to them, even if it’s some wacky pipe dream that lights them up but also gives them heart burn.
~ They want to rattle some area of their status quo, do something that unnerves them, like move to a wee village in some far off place…or take a year’s sabbatical from shoe shopping (just to see if they can)…or scale back on the business schmoozing to spend more time with their spouse…or take ownership of their boredom by creating a social life that gets them out of the house or launching a side project that gets the creative juices chugging.
~ Sometimes their hot pursuit isn’t a goal with easy metrics, like x number of dollars or y number of hugs, but the immense satisfaction of letting the world see who they really are (not the person they think they should be).
~ They have a visibly and audibly low threshold for “woo-woo” and woo-woo lingo.
~ They’re open to seeking help and being helped despite having had their share of disillusionment, especially in the self-help and motivational guru arenas.
~ They don’t expect the process of change to be a no-mosquito, fly-free picnic. They put on some bug spray and place a cover over the potato salad.
~ They roll up their sleeves and don’t mind sweat labor. They also won’t say no to a soft landing.
~ They’re undeterred by the crazy stuff that might spill out of them along the way. With time, they actually find some of it pretty damn funny.
~ Sometimes they bitch, sometimes they moan, sometimes they cry - but they don’t give up their hot pursuits easily.
~ They don’t expect someone like a life coach to feed them the answers or tell them what to do (like a traditional consultant). They do want someone who’s willing to offer suggestions, “consultantcy-light” I like to call it.
~ They want a coach who has compassion but isn’t gooey about it.
~ Many have a 64 ct. box of basic Crayola crayons stashed where the kiddies and snooty-pants adults in their lives can’t find them.
Any of this ringing any bells? Ticking any boxes? Not sure. Feel free to hang out on my blog for a while so that you can get a feel for who I am and if we would make a good team. We can also chat on the phone or via GoogleChat if you want to cut to the chase and drill down into the compatibility stuff.
Also be sure to read the Services page where I do my best to spell out what you actually get when you hire me.
Me, Second

In 2008 I uprooted from the city I’d called home for 12 years (Atlanta, GA) and moved abroad with my significant other and our dog. For nearly a year we lived in a little French village in the countryside. We learned that we’re city people through and through. And if not the city, then at least a busy town. It also taught me that olives are one of the most delicious snack foods on the planet. As of March 2009 we live in Spain, in a busy town along the coast, a five minute walk to views of the Mediterranean. Yeah.
Coaching is a blissfully portable profession. All I need is a laptop, an internet connection, and my Skype compatible headset, and I can work from anywhere.
If you’re into “random information” lists about people, here’s one I wrote after receiving too many “25 Random Things” tags on Facebook on the same day, although my list only has 17 random things.
